Sheepherder Square is a dynamic gathering space in the heart of Big Timber that stimulates economic prosperity, establishes Big Timber as a destination for arts, culture, history and entertainment. The Square enhances the quality of life for all ages and enriches the fabric of our community.

We are getting close, the scheduled date for substantial completion is October 2, 2026.
R&R Taylor Construction, Inc., Bozeman, MT, has been selected as the general contractor for Sheepherder Square Phase 2 construction.
Construction on Phase 2 started on December 8, 2025, and will finish in the fall of 2026. Check our Facebook and Instagram pages for photos and updates.
We have raised $1.7M towards the $2M needed for this phase of the project. Phase 2 includes splash pad, turf, bandshell and all plantings.
Future phases will include the amenities building and restrooms and other amenities and features as funding allows.
